Partnering with Community Organizations to Empower Individuals through Coordinated User-Focused Tools and Resources
Scalable Solutions to Meet Challenging Community Needs
Problem
Individuals facing civil legal issues -- including consumer debt and housing issues -- often lack access to attorneys, forcing them to navigate these complex issues on their own. While resources may exist to help with these problems, they are often not coordinated or tailored to the individual's needs. The results are often unfavorable, negatively impacting the individual, their family, and their community.
Solution
KLH Consulting Services LLC is focused on leveraging technology to achieve scalable solutions to address the civil justice gap. Recognizing that not everyone will have access to traditional one-on-one legal representation, we are focused on providing tailored, accessible financial, social, and legal information, tools, and referrals to consumers to allow them to make informed decisions with the support needed to accomplish their goals.
Philosophy
Legal problems are rarely purely legal but encompass financial, employment, education, and family issues. We seek to deconstruct the artificial barriers and provide individuals with tailored legal and non-legal information, tools, and referrals to help them understand their options. We seek to create solutions that provide free, trusted resources, empowering individuals to make informed decisions.

ABOUT KATIE
Katie uses her experience from legal practice, academia, and access to justice policy reform to create user-centered solutions to help low- and middle-income individuals access tailored information, tools, and referrals needed to effectively address their legal problems. Growing up, she personally witnessed the negative consequences of people trying to navigate their legal problems without the help of counsel, and these observations were ultimately support by data obtained through her consumer debt policy reform work. There will never be enough lawyers to address some of the most common civil legal problems -- including consumer debt and housing -- and now is the time to explore how technology can effectively and responsibly address the civil justice gap.
